Newsletters I read in 2025
Ten years ago I subscribed to my first paid newsletter
It’s the last article of 2025, and it’s time for gratitude.
I learn from other writers so I can teach you better. Here’s who shaped my thinking in 2025:
Tech newsletters that I pay for
The Pragmatic Engineer by Gergely Orosz: I love all of the legwork that goes behind each and every episode. It’s a great way to stay on top of what’s going on in tech.
The Engineering Manager by James Stanier: I loved the books and only recently discovered the newsletter. I signed-up the moment the paid option was available. Looking forward to see what 2026 brings.
Non-tech newsletters that I pay for
Stratechery by Ben Thompson: I’ve been a paid subscriber since 2015. To be a great engineering leader, you have to understand other functions: marketing, sales, etc. This is the best resource for building a deeper understanding of the business.
Unsubscribe by Justin Welsh: I’m not building a unicorn, I’m building a lifestyle business. This is the best newsletter for the job. Even the name is just perfect.
Marketing Ideas by Tom Orbach: Marketing is one of my personal growth areas, and this gives me weekly industry insights with an expert analysis.
Leadership newsletters I love
Manager.dev by Anton Zaides: varied topics with a very “hands-on” view of engineering management.
The Conscious Leader by Taha Hussain: some really great gems in this one. Taha’s courses are one of the few that I find myself referring clients to.
Other newsletters that I love
Perspectiveship by Michał Poczwardowski: I love the current series on mental models.
The AI Engineer by Owain Lewis: real-world, from the trenches, advice on building AI powered applications.
by Doina Leovchin: I love the fresh perspective on building a career and a life in tech.
This was a hard list to trim down. There are so many other great newsletters that I read every time.
If you liked any of my writing this year, please let me know (just reply to the email). And if you want to see me change things for 2026, then send that email as well.
